    -Special ed programs and over represented minority students
    -Struggling students under utilize school wide resources
    -helicopter parents and their effect on their children

    -increased instances of plagiarism/cheating among high school students
    -debate surrounding teacher unions/tenure system
    -rise in IEPs and 504s for students in recent years
    -the new state-mandated evaluation instrument
    -state move towards the common core

  7. to go off julies, arrest rates of minority students, im thinking specifically in nyc, where the second most common arrest is for riding a bike on the sidewalk, then students miss school for the hearing, have to pay a fine, some students are stopped while they are trying to just get to school, lots of layers

    also the textbook industry
