Science and hip hop? Yes.
One of the many lessons that preeminent scholar Lisa Delpit taught is that we have to be explicit about the opaque rules in the culture rewarded in school. True, and we also know that we have to widen what counts as intelligence. We can constantly find ways to widen the cultural ways of knowing in school. Here's an example. Many other scholar activists' work is in this tradition: Marcelle Haddix, Valerie Kinloch, Ernest Morrell, Jeff Duncan-Andrade, Carol Lee. Happy googling.
